Prayers Needed

I have added a new link in my Friends & Family section. It's to a blog for a family that really needs prayer right now.
Tricia is currently awaiting a double lung transplant. As a family who has been touched and seen the effects of a transplant, I hope you will remember all of them in your Prayers.
Make sure you read everything!!! They have an amazing story! I find myself checking the blog a couple of times a day.

A Friday on the Beach

Today, we decided to get away from everything and spend a nice relaxing day on the beach. (Cocoa Beach) It was beautiful and sunny with temps in the mid 80's. The water was cold, of course, but it didn't stop us from getting our feet wet and looking for shells. Elizabeth had fun checking out the jellyfish that had washed up on the shore. We had a wonderful lunch (Thanks Sue & Reg!!!) where we were able to try Florida Rock Shrimp for the first time. They are great!!!!! We hit the beach again for a little while, but since I was having to hold Banastre the whole time, we left pretty quickly. Now that we know the beach is only 1 hour and 20 minutes away I know we will be back soon, probably as soon as Banastre's cast is off!!!

The New "Sock"

Today we had our appointment with ortho doc. Things went really well. We did find out that Banastre had a spiral fracture of his tibia and a fracture of his fibula. Luckily, they were all clean breaks and were not displaced. (Had not moved.) So, the doc put this beautiful blue cast on the little man. It only goes up to his knee instead of the whole leg cast we had been warned about. The Dr. also said he should be up moving and scooting and crawling on it in a couple of days. He even has permission to try to stand and walk with it when he wants. So, after coming home, Banastre immediately started playing in the floor and scooting himself about. I think he was just happy to be able to move again! We really shouldn't have much more pain now that it is stabilized.

We are very happy that there will be no surgery and Banastre should be all better in approx. 4 weeks!!!

Just so you know...Banastre calls it his sock or the blue dinosaur. It's really cute!

A Honor Roll

For the second nine weeks, Elizabeth acheived the all A honor roll. We are very proud of her.

Say a Little Prayer

All bandaged up
Don't worry Mom, I have one more!

Keep us in your prayers. Banastre broke his right leg in two places last night. We have an appointment with an orthopeadic surgeon Thursday morning.
Now that Banastre is in bed, I have a few minutes to fill you all in. First, thank you for your prayers. Now, to how it happened. Last night before bed, Elizabeth, Banastre, and I were playing in the family room floor. Banastre thought it would be fun to try to stand on Mommy's back. As I was telling him to get down, he slipped and fell. We heard a pop. He immediately started crying, but after a few mintues he calmed down. Matt and I were both worried but there was no swelling or bruising. Talked to Matt's uncle who is an ER doc and told him everything. By this point, Banastre was falling asleep. Matt's uncle told us to stay at home for the night if Banastre could sleep, rather than keep him up all night in an ER. When Banastre awoke this morning he was still saying "Ouch" and grabbing his leg. We decided to take him to Urgent Care and have it checked out. The first Urgent Care we went to had no doctor on duty today, so we drove to their "sister" site. After an x-ray, it was confirmed that our poor baby's leg is broken. The doctor stabilized the leg with a splint and we will be seeing the orthopeadic doc first thing Thursday morning. Pray that all goes well and all Banastre will need is a cast and nothing more serious.
He actually did really good today. He didn't complain too much about being stuck on the couch or in one place. We took him outside this afternoon and sat on the lanai for some fresh air. He had a great appetite tonight and ate two and a half bowls of "sghetti" and a bowl of "pea balls" (green peas). I hope tomorrow will be just as good for him!
