How to Scare Mommy

Tonight was a lesson on how to scare Mommy and keep her shaking for a good long while. Let's see if I can set the stage for you....

It was bathtime and Banastre and I proceed into the bathroom to prepare. I open the shower curtain without looking into the bathtub. Banastre is looking in the bathtub very quietly. I open the linen closet and grab some towels, calling for Elizabeth. I lean over Banastre and start to turn on the water. I look in the tub, grab Banastre as quick as possible, run out of the bathroom while yelling: "MATTTTHHHHEWWWW!!!!!!!"

What could cause this you may ask? Take a look below:

Yes, it was this little snake.

He didn't look small and harmless when all I see is a snake in the tub not two feet from Banastre. It's two hours later and I am still shaking and have a fast heart rate!!!!

Thankfully, my knight in a shining t-shirt was there to help me!! Matt successfully caught the snake in a bowl and researched him on the net. Luckily, it was just a corn snake and nothing serious. After getting over their fear, both kids enjoyed checking him out before Matt took him and released him at the clubhouse. I sure hope he doesn't make his way back. I don't think I could handle him in the house again.

Here are the kids after their bath. They don't seem affected at all. Banastre kept asking to see the snake even as I laid him in his bed.

January Jack-o-Lantern

A jack-o-lantern is living at our house right now. It is quite cute and we love it very much.

It's about to lose the other top front tooth any day now. (Mommy really hopes it will be out before they have pictures at school this week!!)

Later this week there will be a two year old living here also. He's cute, but has fully hit the terrible twos. Mommy had forgotten what the temper tantrums were until these last two weeks!!!!!!!

After a tantrum, Mommy's hair stands straight up like this too!!!

2007 in Review

I know this is a little late, but happy New Year to everyone.

We spent New Year's Eve at home and had a wonderful time together. Our cable was out for 6 hours, so we were able to spend time together as a family watching movies, playing games, and just being together! It was a wonderful start for the New Year!!

So here's a short look at our year in review:

Sorry

Ok, I've been a bad blogger...hopefully I can stay caught up a little better!

Let's continue with Christmas.

Santa did make it to our house and he brought lots of goodies!!!! Elizabeth received season tickets to Universal Studios, several toys she wanted, and some other great surprises from the jolly old man. Banastre received a new tv and dvd player for his room and lots of dinosaurs and Diego! St. Nick even left a gift for Mom and Dad. We received season passes to Universal also!!!

Banastre was a little overwhelmed with all of the presents. It literally took him all day to get around to opening everything. Once he opened one present he wanted to play with it rather than open another. It was great. Maybe we should all take this cue for next year and extend the gift opening all day long!!!

Christmas evening was spent at Grandma and Grandpa's with Art and Jemina. I ended up with no pics from there. (I have no clue as to why .) But we had a wonderful meal and a great time with family.

Christmas 2007 was wonderful and full of many new memories and old traditions that we hope to carry forth for many years to come!
